Travel Checklist

  •  passport - make sure its valid!

  • COMFORTABLE SHOES - The streets are cobblestone! PLEASE bring comfortable shoes that won't hold you back!

  • Warm/layering clothes - San Miguel is located in the mountains (not the beach!) it gets chilly at night! Early March the temperature fluctuates from high 70's in the day dropping to the low 50's at night!

  • Contact your bank before leaving! the best exchange rates are at the local banks in San Miguel (rather than the airport).  Most shops/restaurants take major credit cards/US dollars... BUT we suggest using pesos.

  • Contact your cell phone provider - while restaurants/hotels provide wifi, we suggest setting up  an affordable plan to avoid roaming fees.  San Miguel has Uber as an alternative to hailing cabs.

How to get there

  • Queretato Intercontinental Airport (QRO) - United Airlines & Aeromar provide direct flights from Houston.  The drive to San Miguel de Allende is 45 minutes - 1 hour

  • Leon-Bajio International Airport (BJX) - United, American Airlines, Delta, Mexicana & Aeromexico provide direct flights from Houston & Dallas.  The drive from the airport  to San Miguel is  90 minutes.

  • Mexico City's Benito Juarez International Airport (MEX) - Most major airlines fly into Mexico City.  The airport is about 3 hours from San Miguel.

Once you land

Set up arrangements to be picked up from the airport in advance.  Many hotels offer airport transportation by sedan or Suburban.

  • Private transportation can also be arranged through independent companies by phone or email, we suggest San miguel xperience  (we suggest shared trips for lower rates)
